Age I started modelling … 55! Recent accomplishments … That would be my modelling debut at the AGO during March 2010 Toronto Fashion Week for Sunny Fong’s line – VAWK.  That was a huge accomplishment for me and took guts. I challenge the beauty ideal by … demonstrating to the fashion industry and people in general that older women are not only still beautiful externally but exude a special beauty that can only be acquired from life experiences. I am very proud that … in 2005, at the age of 51, I pursued a college degree in Tourism Business Development, graduating in 2007 with honours and Dean’s Academic Award for having the highest overall grade average in 9 programs. To me, beauty is … appreciating what makes you different from the crowd and celebrating it.  It’s accepting your imperfections and understanding they make you a more interesting person.  Beauty is self assurance, strength and saying to the world with confidence – “here I am”. I like modelling because … it is perfect self-expression.  It’s different than anything else I’ve ever done.  I get to work with talented, wonderful and nurturing men and women.  They challenge me. In the world of modelling I would like to see … diverse models referred to as just “models” and not distinguished separately with references made to plus-size, colour of skin, or age.  Traditional and non-traditional models would carry equal value.  My ultimate modelling job would be … to walk the runways in New York or Europe.
