My background is … Portuguese, Spanish and Native Brazilian.  Recent accomplishments … As the only Brazilian working successfully internationally as a plus size model, I have recently done a massive campaign in my homeland Brazil, which was also my first booking back home. This campaign was published in Vogue and ELLE Brazil, in full pages, as well as in 6 other major national magazines in Brazil.  It was a first of its kind on every level.  You may not know this but … I came to New York as most immigrants come, full of hopes, in search of the opportunity to learn English and find a better life. I worked as a waitress, housekeeper and as a nanny. To me, beauty is … having the courage to be proud of who you are. I absolutely can’t live without … music, my passport, my friends and rice and beans.  I like modelling because … it allows me to show that beauty isn’t a cookie cutter reality. We all come in different packages, we all are perfect under our own unique DNA.   I learned about beauty from … the women I’ve surrounded myself with – strong and hard working women who always live their lives by the example of strength and joy no matter how difficult life can be.  I feel most beautiful when … I have no makeup on, sitting at the beach, enjoying a day with my family.  My style is … eclectic. I love mixing different styles and creating looks that represent how I feel each day.  I feel beautiful every day by … dressing my body as perfectly as I feel inside.  My favourite quotation is … “It’s always impossible until it’s done” — Nelson Mandela  I try to make others feel beautiful by … always reminding them that life is too short to be caught up in standards of beauty created by others. I challenge the beauty ideal by … wearing my confidence inside and out.  In the modelling world I would like to see more … diversity – of colour, race, age and shape. My ultimate modelling job would be … the cover of a magazine in my homeland because it would show the reality of the majority of women in Brazil.
