Age I started modelling … 39 – yup, a late, late bloomer. People don’t know this but … I love Alice Cooper, there I’ve said it! To me, beauty is … owning what you’ve got, standing up straight and tall and saying “World, here I am.” I learned about beauty from …my husband and daughter.  The way he looks at me (still, after 27 years) makes me feel like I’m the only woman in the world.  My daughter once told her friends that I was a model, they took one look at me and said, “She is not.” Being a mature, plus-size model was not their belief about models. My daughter said, “She is so, ask to see her portfolio.”  They asked, I showed them and they both said at the same time, “You’re beautiful.”  I’m sure I changed their little 9 year-old minds about what real modelling is that day. I challenge the beauty ideal by …encouraging my family and friends to just enjoy all that life has to offer them, and to stop comparing themselves to others, and appreciate their own beautiful hair, great smile, long legs, etc. Everybody has something that is beautiful.  A smile is the most ideal beauty I can think of. In the modelling world I would like to see … it seems cliché to say these days, but I think we still have a long way to go; I would like it to be “normal” to have all types of models in the media; all sizes, ages, colours, and people with special abilities (be it in wheel chairs, speech impediments, etc). And I would like models to be referred to by their names, given credit in layouts and print ads; just like the products, stylists and photographers do now.  So when someone talks about seeing a model in a fashion show, or in print, they will be referred to by their name, not their difference.  My ultimate modelling job would be … a spokesperson for a fashion line or product that I truly believe in because I have the passion and drive to motivate and inspire people – but I would only use this power for good … LOL!
